BNSF and Norfolk Southern accelerate cargo delivery from Northwest ports

Seattle & Chicago
BNSF and Norfolk Southern railway companies have launched a joint intermodal service connecting Northwest Seaport Alliance with Chicago. The new route allows cargo to be delivered in six days, which is three days faster than the previous time frame.
The service is aimed at joint customers who need more railway capacity and lower transportation costs. According to the companies, shorter portage times and faster shipping will make the route the fastest of all the locks on the Northwest Coast of North America.
Shawn Tureman, Vice President of Norfolk Southern, noted that cooperation with BNSF and the Northwest Seaport Alliance provides customers with a reliable and fast delivery option. This helps to reduce travel time, reduce costs, and optimize supply chains for 2025 and beyond.
BNSF Group Vice President John Gabriel emphasized that the service reduces the waiting time at the pier and speeds up transit. This is especially important for the transportation of consumer goods to the east and the export of meat from the United States.
