Tragic Truck Crash on I-94 in Michigan Results in Driver Fatality

A devastating incident unfolded on March 24th on Interstate 94 in southwestern Michigan, tragically ending the life of a 48-year-old semi-truck operator.

Reports from Berrien County Sheriff's officers indicate that Jeffrey Onil, a 45-year-old resident of Livonia, was driving a semi-trailer when, for reasons yet unknown, his vehicle veered across three lanes and the central median of I-94. This action led to a head-on collision with another truck traveling in the opposite direction. The crash took place around 4:28 p.m. in close proximity to the Indiana state border.

Initial findings suggest that Onil's eastbound truck broke through the median's cable barriers and collided directly with the front of a westbound semi-trailer.

Pavel Dobrovolsky, the driver of the other truck and a resident of Lake Zurich, Illinois, escaped the incident without any injuries. The resulting accident forced the closure of two westbound lanes of I-94 for several hours. Authorities are currently conducting an investigation to determine the factors that contributed to the collision.
