More than 120 truck drivers suspended for bypassing weighing stations in Oregon
10 июня 2025

In the late spring of 2025, in late April and early May, the Oregon State Police with the support of the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) conducted two large-scale raids on the I-84 highway.
The aim was to identify violations among truck drivers.
During these events, which took place near the Cascade Locks, Umatilla and Farewell Bend entry points, as well as the La Grande and Emigrant Hill weighing stations, more than 490 trucks were stopped.
The police paid special attention to those who tried to avoid the working weighing stations.
The results were disappointing: every fourth driver stopped (122 people) had to be removed from driving due to violations.
The Oregon Department of Transportation reminds all truck drivers to follow the weighing rules.
According to current legislation, commercial vehicles weighing more than 20,000 pounds (if the appropriate sign is installed in front of the weighing station) or more than 10,000 pounds (in the absence of such a sign) are required to stop at working weighing stations to undergo the weighing procedure, unless special exceptions are provided for this vehicle.
