Sales of new Class 8 trucks in the United States in October fell to the lowest level of the year, totaling 14,690 units, down 9.5% from September. This was the fourth consecutive month of decline. 

Compared to October 2024, sales decreased by 29.6%.

The main reason is probably the ongoing decline in cargo transportation, with the carriers' net profit at its worst level since 2009.

The cost of a new commercial truck continues to rise, reaching an average price of $183,950 in November, which is 25.3% higher than a year earlier. Orders for future shipments also decreased by 22% compared to October 2024, totaling 24,300 units, according to FTR Transportation Intelligence.

The used Class 8 truck market is also experiencing a decline: sales decreased by 6%, and the average retail price in October was $55,300.

Freightliner led sales in October with 4,738 units sold, while Volvo was the only manufacturer to report a 31% increase in sales for the month compared to September.
