Сhanges to left line rules in some states
05 мая 2025

Legislative assemblies of several states are discussing changes to the rules for using the left lane for overtaking on the roads.
Legislators are actively discussing and developing amendments designed to improve safety and improve road capacity.
The new rules, which come into force on July 1, will not apply on roads with speeds below 55 miles per hour and in cities.
For example, in Arizona, if the bill is passed, drivers will be reminded more often that the left lane is intended exclusively for overtaking. The authorities plan to install special signs, and a fine will be provided for violating this rule.
A bill was being considered in Minnesota to restrict truck traffic in the leftmost lane. The exception was supposed to be only for overtaking cases.
In Louisiana, senators are preparing to consider a new bill that will also amend the rules for using the left lane.
These initiatives, which have unfolded in different states, demonstrate the authorities' desire to make roads safer and more efficient for all road users.
